Armature Casting Kit

This kit is intended for making molds and casting wax or resin copies of action figures sculpted with the Action Figure Armature Kit.

*How many casting kits should I get?*

If you plan to make multiple molds (pour silicone) at the SAME time, then get multiple kits. There are only enough pieces in each casting kit for 1 set of molds at a time.

Each casting kit can be used multiple times until you either lose a necessary piece or the pieces wear out, especially the pins. When the pins wear out, the surface will likely be rough from repeatedly gripping them with pliers. Making molds with rough pins can cause the pins not to fit as easily in the mold or casting.

This kit can be used to cast resin copies with 1/8" and 3/16” diameter articulation pegs.

When making a mold of the action figure, the kit provides enough pins and enlarging sleeves to insert one on each side of every joint. Making a mold with the 1/8" pins and 3/16” sleeves in place allows the 3/16” pins to be inserted in the mold when casting.

When casting in wax, the kit provides enough pins and disks to insert on each side of every joint. This allows the wax to harden around the pin and disk to retain the articulated appendages.

When casting in resin, only 5 pins are placed in the torso mold. After the resin cures and the pins are removed, the torso holes will fit the appendage pegs of the same diameter.
